ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION GUIDE

Viagra vs. Cialis vs. Levitra

by , under Impotence

There are three main drugs on the market for treating erectile dysfunction: Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. All three of these drugs work in the exact same way, have the same risks, and have nearly identical side effects. Because the ED drugs are all so similar, there is a lot of confusion as to which is the "best". Don't listen to anyone (other than your doctor) who tells you that Viagra, Levitra or Cialis is better than another. Every man has different needs and will react differently to the medicine so the choice of drug must be made on an individual basis.

All three ED drugs are going to get results in the same way: by blocking the enzyme PDE5 so more blood gets to the penis. But Cialis stands out from Viagra and Levitra because it gets these results faster and for longer. With Viagra and Levitra, you will need to wait about 30-60 minutes for optimal benefits (though there are studies showing that both drugs can get benefits in as little as 15 minutes) compared to Cialis which gets results in about 15-30 minutes. Viagra results last for about 3-4 hours where Levitra results last a bit longer at 4-5 hours. Cialis trumps the other two because its results can last up to 36 hours.

Cialis also stands out from Viagra and Levitra because it can be taken once daily to treat ED. This means that you don't have to time your sex life around when you take a pill. But it must also be noted that once-daily Cialis doesn't always produce as good of benefits as the other medicines taken as-needed.

Because Viagra has been around longest of the PDE5 inhibitors and is most well-known, it was the industry leader until recently. Now, Cialis has taken over as the most popular ED drug, mostly because of its convenience as a once-daily treatment and long-lasting results. Levitra often gets forgotten amongst the ED drugs because it is not very different than Viagra and lacks the brand-name recognition. However, Levitra has shown to be the most effective in treating tough cases of ED (such as from diabetes). If you don't have success with Viagra or Cialis, then Levitra is worth a try.
